Alternate Reality, Microsoft Doesn't Exist

Apple Matters has been writing about an alternate reality where Microsoft doesn't exist. They are trying to predict what would have happened to other players in the market.

Today' article Part 4 of the series mentions some thought provoking predictions.

Most notably: Existence of iPod and success of Linux are in question if Microsoft did not exist.

Other observations are also quite interesting to think about and speculate.

Often times, competition brings out the best in industry. The hatred for Microsoft has always been the force that motivated the geeks to work on the open source projects :)
