Started this weekend by reading on of the unfinished book The curious incident of the dog in the night-time. The book is written in an interesting manner.

No light at home in evenings nowadays.. no light right now.. no good movies in nearby cinema halls.. Guess I would just take another book and start reading that.

I am in Jaipur for a longish vacation with family till 21st Aug. Initial plan to revisit Ranthambhore (is it bore? no pun intended) was cancelled. I am yet to visit Amber and/or Jaigarh fort(s), something that I do on almost all my longish visits to Jaipur. This time was utilized in reading Salmon of Doubt Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time. Very good collection of articles and interviews from Douglas Adams. I didn't know if I could like this author any more than I already did, my appreciation for D.N.A. has grown further. Are there any fan-fics that have tried to write remaining part of the story?

Reliance R-connect Rocks !

I am still waiting for a call from some sales person/executive of Tata Indicom Broadband Services after around 15-20 days of them telling "Our executive will call you within next 72 hours". I finally bought an overpriced USB cable for my buggy LG phone and got R-connect working with help from Anshuman.

I have to say.. it rocks. Good enough connection speed to get very good voice quality on skype. Not bad for telnetting and working on shell prompt remotely.

Reliance (RIM) needs to change text on their website. It is often misleading. I would have taken this cable and given them good revenue (nearly 12000) till now if they had not stopped supplying the data cable at WebWorld. After 8 months (when I last checked that data cables were not available in R world) their website still boasts that ALL mobile accessories are available at WebWorld. I think its unfair of them to sell handsets at WebWorld when they are not selling accessories. Its very easy to calculate how much revenue they are loosing every day because they are not providing these facilities to their subscribers.

Enuf or cribbing.. I am at home (in Jaipur) and writing this entry using R-connect :)

I spent the weekend in Mumbai with wingies. Route from Pune to Mumbai is very scenic, specially in rainy season when one can see a lot of waterfalls around. Alas, bikes are not allowed on expressway otherwise it would be a lot of fun.

Saturday night was spent in a pub/disc 80s in Banda. Very small place, a lot of people, cigarrete smoke, booze make the place enter in my avoidable list. I haven't been to any pubs/discs in Mumbai (except for Tian, which is more like a Theka) but if all the pubs are more or less similar, I would like to avoid them. Good music though. Can't they make arrangements for better vantilation?

Anyways, that's how it is. Coming 2-3 days promise a lot of eating out.

Circled around sun 4th time as a 28 year old and would circle many more times keeping this number constant. But I couldn't help thinking about two dear friends I lost this year. Rarely a day passes when Bansi is not mentioned in one of the talks. Yesterday I deleted some SMS that I sent him and received from him.

While I was away I lost another friend Maj. Salman Ahmed Khan. I had promised to attend his marriage which was scheduled next year. I was impressed by Salman and Manish right from start. They came to receive me on Kanpur Station when I went there to attend Sachan's marriage. Both guys- more than 6" tall, army school graduates were very interesting. Salman was a captain then and was posted in Lucknow. These two made my stay in Kanpur a memorable one.

I searched internet for any articles related to this accident but couldn't find much.

I don't know for how long I will keep missing these two. I find it very difficult to not think about them and wishing they were here.
